January has a special energy. It’s not just the start of a new month—it often feels like the reset button for the year ahead, and in some ways, for our lives too. While the word resolution tends to get tossed around this time of year (and then abandoned by March), I prefer to think of it as an opportunity to realign. Setting goals isn’t about grand declarations—it’s about making intentional choices that move us closer to the version of ourselves we want to become.
I’ve been reflecting on the areas I’d like to improve, and I’m excited to share a few of my own intentions for the year. Hopefully, they’ll spark ideas for your own journey, too.
1. Sharpening My Focus
Last year, I made a conscious effort to push harder in my career—and I’m proud of the strides I made. Still, progress always leaves room for more. This year, I want to double down on staying disciplined and productive.
One thing that helps me tremendously is using task-management apps to structure my days. There’s something motivating about checking off small wins that add up to big results. Recently, I’ve also found inspiration in podcasts. Shows like Girl Boss and School of Business remind me that success doesn’t happen overnight—it’s built through persistence, creativity, and lessons learned along the way. If you haven’t tried weaving podcasts into your routine yet, this might be the year to start.
2. Prioritizing Family First
No matter how busy life gets, family will always be at the center for me. This year, I want to be more intentional about the way I show up as a mom and a partner. That means saying “no” more often, cutting back on unnecessary work travel, and scheduling time for vacations—or even simple staycations—that give us room to reconnect.
I’ve learned that saying no isn’t about missing out, it’s about choosing what matters most. Less time chasing distractions means more time building memories that truly last. A date night with my husband, a weekend away, or just unplugged time at home—all of it feels like the best investment I can make.
3. Putting Health at the Center
Another big focus this year is improving my relationship with myself. Health isn’t only about the physical—it’s also about nurturing mental and emotional well-being.
For me, that means being consistent with movement, eating more mindfully, and staying on top of things like vitamins and self-care. It also means carving out space for practices I’ve struggled to stick with in the past, like meditation, journaling, or simple visualization exercises. Even 10 minutes a day can shift your mindset and give you clarity to approach the rest of the day with more energy.
4. Feeding My Curiosity
I’ve always stayed plugged into fashion and lifestyle trends—it’s part of both my work and my passion. But this year, I want to broaden my knowledge outside of my usual scope.
It’s an election year, which makes staying informed about current events especially important. I’m committing to reading more books, paying attention to global conversations, and challenging myself to explore subjects I don’t normally gravitate toward. Tools like The Skimm make it less overwhelming to keep up with the news, and I’m looking forward to feeling not just stylish, but also more informed and engaged with the world around me.
5. Living More Sustainably
Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a responsibility. I’ve been thinking a lot about how I can make better choices in my daily life. This year, that means supporting eco-conscious brands, shopping vintage when I can, and taking care of the pieces I already own so they last longer.
Beyond fashion, I want to adopt smaller shifts too, like reducing plastic use and buying more locally. These changes may feel small in isolation, but over time they create a ripple effect—not just for the planet, but for the way we live. Being mindful with what we consume naturally encourages us to live with more intention in every area of life.
Looking Ahead
Each of these goals is about one thing: growth. Not the kind that requires perfection or massive overnight change, but the steady kind that accumulates through small daily choices.
Whether it’s focusing on your health, deepening family bonds, or learning something new, the start of the year is a powerful reminder that we have the chance to reset and realign. I’m hopeful this will be a year of improvement and discovery—not just for me, but for anyone ready to embrace it.
So, tell me—what are you working toward this year?
